Millwall caretakers oversee Doncaster Rovers draw

Millwall caretaker managers Scott Fitzgerald and Neil Harris oversee a goalless draw with fellow Championship strugglers Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Millwall caretaker managers Scott Fitzgerald and Neil Harris have guided the side to a goalless draw against fellow strugglers Doncaster Rovers in their first game in charge.

The pair were put in charge following the sacking of Steve Lomas on Boxing Day, and although they will be encouraged by the performance, they could only take a point from a clash against a team one place below them in the lower realms of the Championship.

There were 31 shots in the match, 20 of which came from the visitors, but only three were on target from either side as two of the division's lowest scorers struggled in front of goal again.

The Lions established some early pressure as Scott McDonald fired into the side-netting from a tight angle, while Martyn Woolford should have given them the lead when he struck wide with the goal gaping on 30 minutes.

While Millwall striker Steve Morison was lively and twice struck over the crossbar from long range, it was their own keeper David Forde who was tested most severely as he saved at full stretch from Dean Furman's effort.

He was beaten when substitute Federico Macheda hit the post with a bending effort on 84 minutes as the hosts pushed for a late winner, which nearly came when Mark Duffy's curler was superbly tipped over by Forde.

Millwall remain 20th in the table, one point and one position above their opponents.
