Alaixys Romao: Joining Marseille is "important moment in my career"

Alaixys Romao admits that he could not turn down the opportunity to sign for Marseille.

Togo midfielder Alaixys Romao has said that joining Marseille from Lorient is an "important" moment in his career.

The 29-year-old, who is currently on Africa Cup of Nations duty, also revealed that he did not expect to leave but could not turn down a club like Marseille.

Speaking to L'Equipe, Romao said: "I really didn't expect to leave Lorient, but this is Marseille. "This is a really important moment in my career."

The deal will keep Romao at Marseille until the summer of 2016.
