Ashley Young will take a pay cut in order to sign a new contract at Manchester United, according to a report.

Ashley Young will reportedly take a pay cut in order to sign a new contract at Manchester United.

The 33-year-old has been converted into a full-back over the last few seasons and is currently captaining United from right-back, with club skipper Antonio Valencia out of favour.

Young will see his current deal at Old Trafford expire at the end of the 2018-19 campaign, and a number of foreign clubs - including Roma - are said to be closely monitoring developments.

The Englishman is reportedly in discussions over a new contract, however, and according to The Sun, he will no longer receive wages in the region of £130,000 a week, with that figure cut to just below £100,000 a week.

Young has made 213 appearances for United since a 2011 move from Aston Villa, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup and Europa League during his time at Old Trafford.
