Manchester United have reportedly informed Cristiano Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes that they are prepared to make a 'heavy investment' for the Real Madrid attacker in this summer's transfer window.
Ronaldo helped Real Madrid land their third straight Champions League title last season, and after a slow start, the Portugal international ended the campaign with 44 goals in 44 appearances.
The 33-year-old poured doubt over his future at the Bernabeu, however, with his comments in the immediate aftermath of the Champions League final.
Ronaldo reportedly wants over £1.3m per week in order to sign a new deal at Real Madrid, which would be over three times his current salary at the club.
However, according to El Confidencial, United have contacted Mendes to inform the agent that they are prepared to meet Ronaldo's immense demands to bring the Portuguese back to Old Trafford.
Ronaldo, who has reportedly been promised the number seven shirt at United, scored 118 goals in 292 appearances for the Red Devils between 2003 and 2009.
