Reading manager Jaap Stam has confirmed that the club are interested in bringing Tyler Blackett to the Madejski Stadium.
Blackett was in the stands as Reading drew 2-2 with Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon, but Stam has suggested that a deal is not close to completion.
The 44-year-old told Get Reading: "We're still looking for a couple of signings. I know Tyler, not personally, but I know what he can do, what type of player he is, the way he can play.
"But I don't know yet if it's going to happen. We've shown our interest but I don't know if we will succeed getting him to the club."
Blackett has played 12 times for United in all competitions but he failed to make an appearance last season as he spent part of the campaign on loan at Celtic.
