Peter Schmeichel wants Manchester United to sign Hugo Lloris

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel believes that the club should look to Hugo Lloris as a replacement for David de Gea.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has stated that the club should look to sign Hugo Lloris.

The Tottenham Hotspur stopper is one player that has been linked with the Red Devils as a replacement for David de Gea, should the Spaniard join Real Madrid.

Schmeichel, who played for United between 1991 and 1999, has suggested that the Frenchman has what it takes to be No.1 at Old Trafford.

"I'd like Lloris to go there," Schmeichel told talkSPORT. "He fits the bill. He's exactly what Man United needs, someone who's brave enough to sweep up.

"With [Thibaut] Courtois he is one of only two keepers who controls their box and that's what United need more than anything.

"And he's proven in the Premier League and that's very important."

Lloris has made 122 appearances for Spurs since joining them from Lyon in 2012.
