Report: Real Madrid drop David de Gea interest

A report claims that Manchester United have won the race to keep Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea out of the clutches of Real Madrid.

Real Madrid have reportedly ended their pursuit of Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.

The Spaniard joined Man United from Atletico Madrid in 2011 and initially struggled to make his mark in the Premier League.

However, the 24-year-old has developed into one of the world's best goalkeepers over the last 12 months, which has attracted interest from his home country.

De Gea is yet to sign a new long-term deal with his current club, but according to The Express, the Premier League outfit are confident of agreeing terms.

As a result, Real Madrid, who are preparing for life after Iker Casillas, are said to have dropped their interest and will instead pursue Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
