Report: Manchester United plot John Stones swoop

Everton defender John Stones emerges as a transfer target for Manchester United, according to reports.

Manchester United are weighing up a move for Everton defender John Stones, according to reports.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to the Red Devils' Premier League rivals Chelsea throughout the summer.

However, Louis van Gaal is considering offering Johnny Evans plus cash for Stones in a bid to beat the Blues to his signature, according to ESPN.

Stones, who has four caps for England, made his debut for Everton in 2013. He made 31 appearances for Roberto Martinez's side last season, scoring one goal.
