Atletico Madrid are reportedly preparing a new contract for highly-rated centre-back Jose Gimenez, with a view to diverting interest from Barcelona and Manchester United.
The 19-year-old's performances for Uruguay at this summer's World Cup have led to a host of transfer talk, with English side United believed to be strongly interested in the teenager.
However, according to Inside Spanish Football, Atletico are preparing a new five-year deal for the defender, which would see his current wages trebled and his buy-out clause also rise.
Gimenez played alongside Atletico teammate Diego Godin at the heart of the Uruguayan defence in Brazil.
