Report: Atletico Madrid agree Nicolas Gaitan deal

A report claims that Atletico Madrid have signed Benfica attacker Nicolas Gaitan.

Atletico Madrid have reportedly agreed to sign long-term Manchester United target Nicolas Gaitan from Benfica.

The Argentine midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford over the last couple of transfer windows, but thus far, it is unclear whether there has been an official offer from England.

According to Marca, Atletico, who are expected to lose Arda Turan to the Premier League this summer, have now swooped in to sign the 27-year-old, who is contracted to Benfica until the summer of 2018.

It is understood that the midfielder has a release clause in excess of £20m - a figure that the former Spanish champions are prepared to meet.
