Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has revealed that the club placed Edinson Cavani, rather than Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, as their top target.
The Ligue 1 champions unveiled Cavani as their new frontman yesterday after he completed a reported £54m move from Napoli.
The French outfit have also been linked with Rooney, who is said to be feeling 'angry and confused' by comments made by manager David Moyes, who claimed that the forward will be used as a back-up striker.
According to Goal.com, when asked if Rooney or Cavani was the club's main priority, Al-Khelaifi said: "Of course Cavani was our first choice, the coach's, Leonardo's and mine."
Chelsea and Arsenal have been touted as possible destinations for the unsettled United forward.
