Manchester United is reportedly told that he must fund further summer signings through player sales, with the bulk of the club's budget to be spent on Jadon Sancho.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly been told that he will have to raise funds through player sales if he is to have money left over after a deal for Jadon Sancho this summer.

Sancho is United's number one transfer target, but Borussia Dortmund have been bullish in their refusal to consider any bids below their £108m asking price.

The Red Devils remain hopeful of signing the 20-year-old England international but recognise that it will take the vast majority of their transfer funds to do so, meaning that any further additions may have to be paid for by player sales.

The Evening Standard reports that Solskjaer wants three key signings this summer, with a centre-back and midfielder also on his wishlist alongside Sancho.

Solskjaer acknowledged the need for greater strength in depth throughout his squad following his side's Europa League semi-final exit to Sevilla on Sunday - their third semi-final defeat of the season.

However, the Norwegian must first offload fringe players before he can add more to his squad, with the likes of Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, Andreas Pereira, Jesse Lingard, Diogo Dalot and Phil Jones among those whose futures are uncertain.
