Manchester United scouts are reportedly unconvinced about the suitability of Denis Zakaria for the team.
The Red Devils have been strongly linked with a move for the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder, who will leave the German outfit when his contract expires in the summer.
Interim boss Ralf Rangnick is keen to bring in reinforcements in that area of the pitch, and Zakaria is thought to be high up on his list of potential targets.
However, The Athletic claims that scouts at the club have questioned Zakaria's long-term suitability for the team and have concerns over his form since returning from a long-term knee injury.
The likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have also been credited with an interest in the 25-year-old, who has scored twice in 16 appearances this season.
Man United have been linked with other midfield targets as alternatives to Zakaria, with Declan Rice and Amadou Haidara understood to be on the club's radar.
