Manchester United are reportedly reluctant to enter into a protracted transfer saga to land Erling Braut Haaland this summer.

Manchester United are reportedly set to pull out of the race to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland, as they are reluctant to enter a protracted transfer saga this summer.

The Norwegian international is one of the most sought-after footballers in Europe and has been heavily linked with a move to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

However, according to The Athletic, United will quickly assess whether Haaland is a financially viable option and are to exit the race for his signature should they decide he will prove too expensive, rather than haggling for a lower offer.

This comes after a 10-week period of negotiation in their bid to sign Haaland's teammate Jadon Sancho last summer, which saw the winger stay put in Germany.

Haaland's agent Mino Raiola and father Alf-Inge Haaland have already held talks with La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, while Manchester City and Chelsea are also believed to be interested in the striker.

The 20-year-old has made 34 appearances in all competitions for the German club so far this campaign, scoring a remarkable 33 goals and providing 10 assists.
