Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a €68m (£57.5m) offer for Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
The Red Devils are determined to boost their midfield options for the 2022-23 campaign following their struggles on the opening weekend of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion.
The club are believed to be closing in on a deal for Juventus' Adrien Rabiot, but another midfielder could also arrive, with Erik ten Hag's side now seemingly looking at alternatives to Frenkie de Jong, as a proposed deal for the Barcelona midfielder continues to stall.
There has been a host of speculation surrounding Milinkovic-Savic's future over the last couple of years, with Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Real Madrid all said to be admirers of the Serbian.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the 20-time English champions are now considering placing a €68m (£57.5m) bid on the table.

The 27-year-old was again in strong form for Lazio during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring 11 goals and registering 12 assists in 47 appearances in all competitions.
In Serie A, the midfielder scored 11 goals and registered 11 assists in 37 outings, while he also played eight times in the Europa League last term, contributing one assist.
Milinkovic-Savic only has little over two years left to run on his contract in Rome, though, and he is believed to be prepared to move clubs in the current market, with Lazio also open to a sale for the right price.
Lazio president Claudio Lotito recently said that the midfielder was not for sale but "an important proposal from a world-class top club" would be considered this summer.
"Milinkovic is not for sale. I turned down €140m (£120m) bid for him [years ago]", Lotito told Rai Sport. "I'd ask Sergej what he wants to do only in case we receive an important proposal from a world-class top club."

The midfielder has scored 58 goals and contributed 51 assists in 294 appearances for the Italian club since arriving from Genk in August 2015.
Man United are also determined to improve their attack before the end of the transfer window and had been strongly linked with Bologna's Marko Arnautovic over the weekend.
However, the Red Devils have allegedly now dropped their interest in the experienced forward and are now preparing to pursue other options in that area of the field.
Alvaro Morata has reportedly been offered to Ten Hag's side, with the Spain international surplus to requirements at Atletico Madrid this summer.
Man United will be bidding to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat to Brighton when they continue their Premier League campaign at Brentford in Saturday's late start.
