Manchester United are considering parting ways with Alex Telles in order to steal a march in the race for Sporting Lisbon left-back Nuno Mendes.
Given the impressive form of Luke Shaw, Telles has found Premier League starts hard to come by at Old Trafford since his summer move, and he has featured from the first whistle just six times in the English top flight so far.
The former Porto man penned a deal at Old Trafford until 2024 when he arrived, but his lack of game time could supposedly lead him to seek pastures new after just one year in Manchester.
Sporting starlet Mendes is understood to have caught the eye of Man United, and Portuguese outlet Record claims that United are ready to offer Telles as a makeweight in a deal for the £34m-rated 18-year-old.
The report adds that ex-Sporting playmaker Bruno Fernandes has urged the Red Devils to secure Mendes's services, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is likely to face competition from Manchester City and Liverpool for the highly-rated teenager.
Mendes has bagged one goal and one assist from 20 Primeira Liga starts this term, as Sporting sit seven points clear at the top of the rankings.
