Liverpool may reportedly go head-to-head with rivals Manchester United for Schalke 04 winger Rabbi Matondo.
The Wales international has been linked with a return to the Premier League, a little over a year on from leaving Manchester City.
Matondo failed to make a single senior outing for City, but he has racked up 19 appearances for Schalke in the Bundesliga and has caught the eye of English clubs.
United are said to be eyeing the 19-year-old as a cheaper alternative to Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho, but the Liverpool Echo indicates that Liverpool may also be tempted to make a move.
The Reds are said to be in the market for a new attacking player, though RB Leipzig star Timo Werner remains their priority target.
Matondo was a half-time substitute in Schalke's 4-0 loss to Dortmund last weekend and is in contention to start against Augsburg on Sunday.
