Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier could reportedly have joined Manchester United this month if he had not received a 10-week suspension from the Football Association.
Trippier told a friend to "lump on" his transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Atletico in the summer of 2019, which led to the England international being banned for 10 weeks and fined £70,000.
The ban has been suspended by FIFA pending an appeal, although it is currently unclear when the right-back might be able to return to action.
United have recently been linked with the 30-year-old as they look to bring in competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the right side of their defence, and according to talkSPORT, Trippier could have joined the 20-time English champions this month if the punishment was not handed out.
The Englishman has been in impressive form for Diego Simeone's form since his arrival, making 52 appearances in all competitions, contributing nine assists in the process.
Trippier has a contract at the Wanda Metropolitano until the summer of 2022.
