Inter Milan are reportedly ready to open contract talks with Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij in an attempt to ward off Premier League interest in the defensive duo.

Inter Milan are reportedly planning to offer centre-back duo Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij new contracts in an attempt ward off interest from the Premier League.

Manchester City are one of a number of clubs to have been linked with an £80m bid for Skriniar, while the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United have been credited with an interest in at least one of the defensive duo.

Some of Europe's biggest other clubs, including Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, are also thought to be tracking the pair following their performances for Inter this season.

Italian outlet La Repubblica claims that Inter are desperate to keep hold of both players and are hoping to tie them down to new deals.

The report suggests that Skriniar has already agreed an extension to his current contract, which is due to expire in 2023, while they are in ongoing talks with De Vrij, whose deal also expires in three years' time.

Skriniar and De Vrij have both been ever-presents for Inter Milan in Serie A this season, helping the club to the joint second-best defensive record in the division.
