Manchester United are reportedly closing in on a deal to bring Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong to the club in this summer's transfer window.
The 24-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from Camp Nou in recent months, with one report claiming that the Catalan giants are prepared to listen to offers for the playmaker.
According to journalist Gerard Romero, Barca have agreed to sell De Jong to Man United for around €80m (£69m), and his switch from Spain to England is '95% done'.
The report adds that Barcelona's decision to allow the Netherlands international to leave is purely due to economic reasons, as the La Liga outfit are still struggling financially.
De Jong has been linked with the likes of Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain over the past 12 months, but Man United now seem to have moved ahead of their rivals in the race for his signature.
The midfielder's potential move to Old Trafford would see him reunite with United's incoming boss Erik ten Hag, who coached the Dutchman at Ajax between 2017 and 2019.
De Jong has made a total of 138 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing 17 assists.
