Robert Fernandez 'sure' over Neymar contract

Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez is confident that Brazilian international Neymar will sign a new long-term contract with the Catalan outfit.

Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez has insisted that "there won't be a problem" with regards to a potential new long-term contract for Brazilian forward Neymar.

Neymar, 23, is still on the five-year deal that he signed with the Catalan club upon joining from Santos in the summer of 2013.

Barca are keen to hand the forward a further extension in addition to a rise in basic salary, but question marks over his long-term future have arisen after summer links with Manchester United.

Fernandez is unsure whether Neymar will sign a fresh deal "soon", but is confident that an agreement will be reached in the not too distant future.

"Will Neymar sign soon? I don't know, but there won't be a problem," Mundo Deportivo quotes Fernandez as saying.

Respected Spanish journalist Guillem Balague, who has ties with Barcelona, has hinted that Neymar could look to leave Camp Nou in order to emerge from Lionel Messi's shadow.
