New Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini reportedly forfeited £4m in order to secure a move from Everton to Old Trafford on deadline day.
The Belgium international became the Premier League champions' only major signing of the window following failed attempts for the likes of Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera and Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas.
While Everton revealed that they had sold Fellaini for £27m, United are believed to have claimed that the club did not pay any more than the midfielder's expired £23.5m release clause, according to The Express.
Reports have claimed that the £27m fee comes from Fellaini's decision to relinquish £4m in loyalty bonuses when he lodged a transfer request on the final day of the window.
The 25-year-old has been issued with the number 31 shirt at United.
