Manchester United attacker Edinson Cavani confirms on social media that he will not depart the Red Devils in the last knockings of the transfer window.

Manchester United attacker Edinson Cavani has taken to social media to confirm that he will not depart the Red Devils in the last knockings of the transfer window.

The Uruguay international was previously linked with a return to South America with Boca Juniors before electing to extend his United deal until the summer of 2022.

However, the return of Cristiano Ronaldo saw links with Barcelona emerge for Cavani, who has now affirmed that he has no intention of ending his stint with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side just yet.

Sharing a picture of himself in action for United, Cavani added two emojis - a red circle and the flexing bicep - to the post captioned "Edinson Cavani will 100 per cent not join Barcelona on deadline day."

Barcelona could make a last-minute move for a new striker as Antoine Griezmann prepares to return to Atletico Madrid, but Sevilla's Luuk de Jong is thought to be the Blaugrana's priority target.

Cavani - who missed the start of the 2021-22 season following his Copa America exploits - struck 17 goals in all tournaments for Man United last term.
