Atletico Madrid 'open talks with Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani'

Atletico Madrid reportedly open talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a January transfer for Edinson Cavani.

Atletico Madrid have reportedly opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a January transfer for Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguay international's contract at the Parc des Princes expires at the end of the 2019-20 season and the player will not receive an extension.

However, Atletico are keen to strike a deal for Cavani in this window following the club's struggles in front of goal so far this term.

According to RMC Sport, the La Liga side are clear favourites to secure the player's signature and have established talks with PSG sporting director Leonardo.

Other reports state that PSG are reluctant to do a deal for Cavani in January and would prefer to let him leave as a free agent in June.

Manchester United and Chelsea have also both been credited with showing interest in the 32-year-old, who is valued at around £12m.
