Brighton & Hove Albion attacker Alexis Mac Allister's father says that "clubs are starting to call" about the World Cup winner.

The father of Brighton & Hove Albion attacker Alexis Mac Allister has said that "clubs are starting to call" about the World Cup winner ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old has been in strong form for the Seagulls during the 2022-23 campaign, scoring nine goals and registering two assists in 26 appearances in all competitions.

Mac Allister also played an important role in Argentina winning the 2022 World Cup, making six appearances at the competition in Qatar, contributing one goal and one assist in the process.

The attacker also featured for 45 minutes of his country's friendly against Panama on Thursday, with the attacker viewed as a vital player for the South American nation.

Brighton have Mac Allister on a contract until June 2025, with the option of a further 12 months.

However, the Seagulls are expected to find it difficult to keep hold of the Argentine this summer, with a number of clubs credited with an interest in his services.

Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool have all been linked with the playmaker.

Mac Allister's father has said that "clubs are starting to call", although there have not been any "concrete conversations" at this stage of proceedings.

"The clubs are starting to call us about Alexis, but there are no concrete conversations for now," TNT Sports quotes Carlos Mac Allister as saying.

"We will decide together with Brighton, they deserve respect. We will also choose the best project based on the coach, it is not just about money."

Mac Allister made the move to Brighton from Argentinos Juniors in 2019, and he has now represented the club on 98 occasions, scoring 17 goals and contributing eight assists.

The midfielder has been key to Brighton's Premier League success this term, scoring seven goals and registering one assist in 22 appearances in England's top flight, including strikes in two of his last three outings.

Roberto De Zerbi's side have picked up 42 points from 25 league games this season to sit seventh in the table, only seven points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with three games in hand.

Meanwhile, the Seagulls will take on Manchester United in the semi-finals of the FA Cup next month, having put five unanswered goals past Grimsby Town in the quarter-finals of the competition last time out.
