29 goals were scored and 32 cards were issued during nine Premier League fixtures on Saturday and Sunday.

Sports Mole's resident maths geek has analysed the weekend's footballing facts and figures to compile a swarm of statistics for your numeric pleasure.

Steven Gerrard's first-half penalty in Liverpool's 2-2 draw at Newcastle provided the England skipper with his 100th Premier League goal.

Gerrard, who has now made 449 top-flight appearances, is the 24th player to reach the landmark.

In other news, there have now been 126 goals in Premier League matches between Newcastle and Liverpool, which is more than in any other fixture.

Jack Wilshere's 18th-minute opener during Arsenal's 4-1 win over Norwich was the midfielder's first Premier League goal at the Emirates Stadium.

It came during the 21-year-old's 36th league appearance at the Gunners' North London home.

Wilshere's strike also means that he has found the net in back-to-back club games for the first time in his senior career.

Petr Cech made his 300th Premier League appearance for Chelsea as his side thrashed Cardiff 4-1.

Cech is the third player at Stamford Bridge to reach the milestone, following in the footsteps of Frank Lampard and John Terry.

He is the 14th goalkeeper to play 300 Premier League games, after David James, Mark Schwarzer, Brad Friedel, Shay Given, Jussi Jaskelainen, Paul Robinson, Nigel Martyn, Thomas Sorensen, David Seaman, Edwin van der Sar, Ian Walker, Peter Schmeichel and Tim Howard.

It took Steven Pienaar just 27 seconds to find the net after entering the field of play as a substitute in Everton's 2-1 win over Hull.

His strike, which came 10 seconds after play resumed, is not the quickest Premier League goal by a substitute.

Arsenal's Nicklas Bendtner still holds the overall league record, having taken just six seconds (1.8 seconds after play resumed) to make an impact in a 2-1 win over Spurs in 2007.

Southampton had gone 498 minutes (eight hours and 18 minutes) without conceding a goal in all competitions prior to Robin van Persie's first-half opener in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Despite the Dutchman's strike, the Saints still boast the Premier League's tightest defence, having conceded just three goals in eight games.

The South Coast club had shipped 24 league goals at this stage last season.

When Craig Gardner brought down Leon Britton in the 64th minute of Swansea City's 4-0 win over Sunderland, referee Craig Pawson quite rightly awarded a penalty.

However, the decision was met with mild surprise by many of the 20,245 fans at the Liberty Stadium, as it was the Swans' first spot-kick in 56 league games.

Another defeat for Sunderland meant that the Black Cats have now lost six consecutive league matches for the first time since 2006.

A drab stalemate in Staffordshire maintained the Britannia Stadium's reputation as one of the Premier League's most goal-shy grounds.

The net has bulged just four times in four league matches at the Potters' noisy home this season, making it the Premier League's joint-lowest-scoring venue alongside Hull's KC Stadium.

Only Sunderland's Stadium of Light (2.05 per game) and QPR's Loftus Road (2.16) witnessed fewer top-flight goals than the Britannia (2.26) last season.

Sergio Aguero found the back of the net with a header for the first time in his English league career as City won 3-1 at West Ham.

The 5ft 8in striker's feet had already scored 40 league goals by the time his head got in on the act.

City are now the division's top scorers, having netted 20 goals in eight league games this season.

The Villans' 2-0 loss to Spurs was their 15th home league game in a row without a clean sheet.

Meanwhile, the match saw Tottenham record their fourth straight away victory in all competitions.

Prior to Sunday's clash, Spurs had not won four consecutive games on the road since 2007, when they earned victories at Fulham, Everton, West Ham and Braga within the space of just 19 days.
