Manchester United 'set Premier League title target for new manager'

Manchester United's next manager will be expected to deliver the Premier Leaague title in their first season in charge, according to a report.

Manchester United will reportedly set an immediate target of winning next year's Premier League for whoever is chosen to succeed David Moyes in the Old Trafford hotseat.

Sources close to Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal claim that he will take over as Red Devils manager, a rumour that the club deny, but The Telegraph has suggested that any successor will be expected to reclaim the title within 12 months at the helm.

Despite Ryan Giggs starting life as interim manager with an emphatic victory over Norwich City on Saturday, it is thought that the former Welsh international is not being considered for the post.

However, it is also reported that the United hierarchy are keen to have someone of his stature involved in any new managerial setup.

The Red Devils currently lie seventh in the Premier League table.
