Paul Scholes assists Ryan Giggs in Manchester United training

Manchester United confirm that Paul Scholes is assisting interim manager Ryan Giggs in training.

Manchester United have confirmed that retired midfielder Paul Scholes is assisting interim manager Ryan Giggs in training.

Reports emerged shortly after David Moyes was sacked on Tuesday that the club wanted Scholes to return to the coaching setup.

Giggs will carry out first-team duties until the end of the season, working alongside Nicky Butt and Phil Neville.

While Scholes's long-term role is unclear, United announced his return on Twitter by saying: "It's great to see Paul Scholes here at the Aon Training Complex today, assisting Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt and Phil Neville."

United, who lost 15 games during Moyes's 10-month stint in charge, have four games left to play in their season.
