Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has insisted that he had no part to play in the club's decision to appoint Louis van Gaal as manager.
The Red Devils' talisman, who holds a strong bond with the current Netherlands coach, was reportedly unhappy with life at Old Trafford under former manager David Moyes.
"No, the management of Manchester United did not ask me", the 30-year-old told Algemeen Dagblad. "But if they watched from a distance, they would know how we have been with each other.
"I have had two very pleasant years under him with the Oranje. He is very clear. I'm going to have a new process over the next two years with Van Gaal at my club. I'm really looking forward to it."
Van Gaal recently described Van Persie as being a "fantastic captain".
