Patrice Evra extends Manchester United contract

Patrice Evra extends Manchester United contract by another year following rumours that the Frenchman was poised for an Old Trafford exit.

Manchester United have announced that defender Patrice Evra has extended his contract by a further year following speculation regarding his future.

The Frenchman was heavily linked with a move to Italy following widespread reports that United are keen on signing Southampton left-back Luke Shaw.

However, the Red Devils have announced on their official Twitter page that Evra has signed a one-year extension, to which he was entitled under a clause written into his current deal.

Evra, who joined United from Monaco in 2006, will be playing under Louis van Gaal, who was appointed as David Moyes's successor on Monday.
