Manchester United are reportedly trying to complete a deal for Southampton left-back Luke Shaw before he prepares for this summer's World Cup in Brazil with England.
The 18-year-old was preferred to Ashley Cole in Roy Hodgson's squad for the tournament, which will get underway on June 12.
At the weekend, reports emerged claiming that United had offered a £27m bid to Southampton as they look for a long-term replacement for Patrice Evra.
According to the Manchester Evening News, United are hoping to finalise a deal for the teen before he flies out to Portugal for a pre-tournament training camp with the Three Lions next Monday.
Reports have claimed that Louis van Gaal, who is expected to be appointed as the new United manager in the coming days, has given the club the green light to sign Shaw, who was a target for the Red Devils during David Moyes's unsuccessful stint in charge.
