Pep Guardiola to wait for job in England

Outgoing Bayern Munich head coach Pep Guardiola hints that he may have to wait to take charge of a Premier League club.

Pep Guardiola has admitted that he may have to wait up to "two years" to land a managerial job in England.

The 44-year-old will be out of work in the summer, having announced last month that he will leave his position as Bayern Munich head coach at the end of the season.

The Spaniard later added that the Premier League was his preferred destination, which had resulted in strong links with Manchester City, as well as Manchester United and Chelsea.

However, Guardiola has insisted that he may take some time out before he returns to work.

"When I sign a contract I will announce it immediately," the former Barcelona boss told reporters.

"Maybe it will be two years until I will coach a team in England. I am very happy about my experience in Munich. I am working until my last second here.

"After that I will go home and wait to see if it is possible to move to England or not. If it's not, then I won't."

Guardiola had a self-imposed 12-month sabbatical from the game after his departure from Barca in 2013.
