David Moyes admits misconduct charge

Manchester United manager David Moyes admits a charge of misconduct for comments he made about match officials following last week's defeat to Sunderland.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has admitted a charge of misconduct following comments he made in the wake of last week's defeat to Sunderland.

The Scot was critical of referee Andre Marriner after the Red Devils lost 2-1 in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final at the Stadium of Light.

He told reporters: "We're having to play the opposition and the officials at the moment. Maybe I've got to understand, that's what happens at Manchester United."

Moyes was subsequently charged for "allegedly called into question the integrity of the match officials appointed to that fixture and/or appointed to Manchester United fixtures generally, and/or implied that such match officials are motivated by bias; and/or brought the game into disrepute, in contravention of Rule E3(1)".

The 50-year-old has decided against attending the official hearing, where he could either be fined or warned about his future conduct.
