Mark Bosnich: 'Manchester United's David De Gea is not arrogant'

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich believes that criticism of David De Gea is unfair following the Spaniard's error against Everton at the weekend.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich has hit back at criticism of David De Gea following the Spaniard's error in United's 1-1 draw with Everton on Sunday.

The 29-year-old was at fault for Everton's opener as his attempted clearance was charged down by Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and the ball cannoned off the striker's outstretched leg into the United net.

Bosnich, who made 35 appearances for the Red Devils in the 1999-2000 season, has jumped to the defence of the United keeper.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Bosnich said: "It wasn't a good error but in terms of being arrogant, unless you know the person 100 per cent I don't really think you can make that type of call.

"In terms of the goalkeeping position, there's a very fine line between arrogance and confidence. Yes, it was a poor mistake but he came back from it very well to be fair."

De Gea has made 393 appearances for United since his arrival from Atletico Madrid.
