Manchester United lose 13 matches at this stage of a campaign for just the second time in their history, with the Red Devils suffering a 2-0 defeat to West Ham United on Saturday.

Manchester United have lost 13 matches at this stage of a campaign for just the second time in their history, with the Red Devils going down 2-0 at West Ham United on Saturday afternoon.

Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus scored the goals for the Hammers, who inflicted an eighth league loss of the season on the 20-time English champions.

Man United have now lost 13 matches in all competitions this season, which is their most before Christmas since the 1930-31 season, when they had been beaten 16 times at this stage and eventually finished bottom of the top flight.

The Red Devils have also gone four successive matches without scoring for the first time since November 1992 under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Man United, who sit eighth in the table on 28 points, entered the clash with the Hammers off the back of a goalless draw with Liverpool, but they were unable to build on what was a positive result.

The 20-time English champions looked the most likely for long stages of the contest with West Ham, who suffered a 5-1 loss to Liverpool in the EFL Cup last week.

However, Bowen bundled the ball into the back of the net in the 72nd minute to make the breakthrough, before Kudus doubled the home side's advantage in the 78th minute.

Marcus Rashford, Facundo Pellistri, Sergio Reguilon and Christian Eriksen were introduced off the bench, with the former entering the field for Rasmus Hojlund, who is still waiting for his first league goal for the club.

There will now be major pressure on head coach Erik ten Hag to deliver a positive result against Aston Villa on December 26, before the Red Devils finish their year away to Nottingham Forest on December 30.
