Luke Shaw: 'I'll be fit for new season'

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw insists that he will be 100% fit when the new Premier League campaign gets underway next month.

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has insisted that he will 100% fit when the new Premier League season gets underway next month.

The left-back was criticised by Louis van Gaal last season with the Dutchman bemoaning the youngster's poor fitness levels, but the England international believes that he will be in peak condition.

The Mirror quotes Shaw as saying: "I have come back to this pre-season in much better shape than I did last season. The rest has done me really well, the trip to Dubai helped also and I feel good.

"I've had a few different pre-seasons and this one hasn't been too hard. Every pre-season is hard and it is just about getting your fitness back up.

"Over the time I had off, I made sure that I came back in good shape. I am feeling good and I'm ready for the games."

United, who are currently in the United States, continue their pre-season preparations with a game against San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday.
