Anders Lindegaard plays his first match since January for Manchester United reserves.

Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard has made a successful return to action in a reserves match after three months out.

The 28-year-old has been sidelined since January after damaging his ankle ligaments, and suffered a setback in March which prompted speculation that the Denmark international may miss the rest of the season.

However, Lindegaard made his long-awaited return to football on Tuesday, as he kept a clean sheet before saving two spot kicks in the penalty shoot-out victory over Blackpool as United reserves advanced to the Lancashire Senior Cup final.

Lindegaard is unlikely to reclaim a starting place this season as David de Gea has excelled in the Dane's absence.

Meanwhile, the return to action could provide Lindegaard's chances of being named in Denmark's Euro 2012 squad with a huge boost.
