Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho hopes that his side's 4-0 Europa League win over Feyenoord will increase the team's confidence in front of goal domestically.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has urged his side to take their goalscoring form into the Premier League following their 4-0 drubbing of Feyenoord on Thursday night.

United are the lowest scorers in the top six having failed to find the back of the net in three of their last five outings in the Premier League, leading Mourinho to label them the unluckiest team in the division after their 1-1 draw with Arsenal last weekend.

However, he is hoping that the four-goal show in Europe will help his side's confidence in the final third going into Sunday's clash with West Ham United.

"We need to put the ball in the net. [On Thursday] we scored four, but I think we missed also three or four chances. So I think it is just that - but that has also to be with confidence levels," he told reporters.

"[On Thursday] we were winning 1-0 and missing chances, and then we lost the ball in midfield and they got a direct free kick, I thought it would be 1-1. You have immediately negative feelings because you play so well and you don't score goals and you don't win matches.

"So I think what we need in the Premier League is exactly that - to have a match where we score goals. People like Zlatan [Ibrahimovic], like [Wayne] Rooney, especially, guys whose happiness depends on the goals they score, they need that."

United currently sit sixth in the Premier League table having won just two of their last nine league games.
