Gary Neville reacts to Manchester United's Ralf Rangnick appointment

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville sends a warm welcome to new interim manager Ralf Rangnick after the German's arrival was confirmed on Monday morning.

Gary Neville has sent a warm welcome to new Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick following the German's appointment.

The 63-year-old was confirmed as the club's temporary head coach for the remainder of the 2021-22 season on Monday morning, replacing the recently-departed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The news of Rangnick's appointment has been widely welcomed by the Man United fanbase, and Neville - a staunch supporter of Solskjaer - has now followed suit.

Neville wrote on Twitter: "Welcome to the Greatest Football Club in the World Ralf Rangnick. A contract for 6 months to coach the team. A contract for 2 years to coach the club."

Rangnick will take on a two-year consultancy role at Old Trafford when his time on the touchline comes to an end, where he will likely have a say over the appointment of a new permanent coach.

The former RB Leipzig manager's work permit is yet to be sorted, though, so Michael Carrick may remain in charge for Thursday's Premier League battle with Arsenal at Old Trafford.
