David de Gea wins Manchester United Player of the Year award for fourth time

Goalkeeper David de Gea wins Manchester United's Player of the Year award for a fourth time at the club's awards evening on Tuesday night.

Goalkeeper David de Gea has been named Manchester United's Player of the Year for the fourth time.

United have endured a mixed campaign - although the club can still win the FA Cup - but the performances of De Gea have been key, with the Spaniard keeping 17 clean sheets in the Premier League.

De Gea faced competition from top goalscorer Romelu Lukaku but the 27-year-old was named as the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year at an awards evening on Tuesday night, winning the accolade for a record-breaking fourth time.

De Gea had been level with Cristiano Ronaldo on three wins, but the long-serving stopper was able to add to his successes from 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Scott McTominay was rewarded for his breakthrough season by lifting the Young Player of the Year award.
