Tom Cleverley has revealed that returning to the England squad is one of the targets he is hoping to achieve while on loan at Aston Villa this season.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal allowed the midfielder to leave Old Trafford after deciding he did not fit in his plans, but Cleverley believes that he can follow the example set by new teammate Fabian Delph as he looks to impress Roy Hodgson.
"I feel like it can be an upward curve here to get my career back on track. I want to come here and improve Villa," the 25-year-old told members of the media. "First of all I have to get in the team, and then play well and get back in the England squad like Delphy.
"There are a lot of things I want to achieve. This is a forward step for me personally."
Cleverley has won 13 caps for England.
