David Beckham pays tribute to "amazing servant" Ryan Giggs

Former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham pays tribute to the retiring Ryan Giggs, describing the winger as an "amazing servant".

Former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham has hailed Ryan Giggs as an "amazing servant" following the Welshman's decision to retire from football.

Giggs brought an end to his illustrious 24-year playing career this afternoon having been confirmed as assistant manager to new United boss Louis van Gaal.

Tributes have been flooding in for the 40-year-old, who made 963 appearances for the Red Devils, and Beckham added his voice to those praising his former teammate's stellar career.

"Amazing servant to the game of course, but more importantly, an amazing servant to Manchester United. We are all proud of you - Manchester United fans love you," Beckham said in a video message on the club's official website.

Giggs retires as the most decorated player in English football history having won 13 Premier League titles, four FA Cups, four League Cups, nine Community Shields, two Champions Leagues, one UEFA Super Cup, an Intercontinental Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.
