A frustrating summer transfer window has now closed with Manchester United having missed out on a number of their top targets, including Jadon Sancho.
The Red Devils were busy on deadline day, though, bringing in Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles and Facundo Pellistri, in addition to agreeing a deal to sign Amad Traore in January. Attention will now switch to other business they may do when the window reopens in the winter.
Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Old Trafford.
Thursday morning's Manchester United transfer talk news roundup:
Manchester United 'have high hopes for Amad Diallo, Facundo Pellistri'
Manchester United are reportedly confident that Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri will eventually become key players at Old Trafford.
While United missed out on Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho during the summer transfer window, the Premier League giants moved to seal deals for Diallo and Pellistri.
Although the pair are not expected to be thrown into the first-team picture over the next six months, Manchester Evening News journalist Tyrone Marshall has acknowledged that much is expected of the teenagers.
Speaking during a Q&A, Marshall said: "United have very high hopes for both players, but right now they're not the right-wingers needed for the first team.
"Pellestri has only just arrived and Diallo doesn't arrive until January, it's too much to expect either to come in and start making an impact on the first team.
"In the next 12 to 24 months perhaps they could do that, but whether they can reach Sancho's level is difficult to say."
Solskjaer has used Mason Greenwood, Daniel James and Juan Mata on the right flank this season.
Manchester United 'in talks over Cristiano Ronaldo return'
Manchester United have reportedly contacted Cristiano Ronaldo with the view to re-signing the Portugal international during next summer's transfer window.
The 35-year-old's existing deal with Juventus is due to run until June 2022, but the Italian champions are allegedly keen to offload the attacker next summer to reduce the wage bill.
Paris Saint-Germain have been strongly linked with the forward, but according to FOX Sports journalist Christian Martin, United are in talks with the Portuguese over a return, and Juve would be prepared to negotiate with the 20-time English champions.
"Our sources in Manchester and Porto confirm that Manchester United tempted Cristiano Ronaldo with a return to the club for next season. The Portuguese star is considering it. Juventus will negotiate a deal if Ronaldo asks for it," Martin posted on Twitter.
Ronaldo turned out for United between 2003 and 2009, scoring 118 goals in 292 appearances, winning three Premier League titles, one FA Cup and one Champions League in the process.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has scored 71 times in 94 appearances for Juve since arriving from Real Madrid, including six goals in five outings in all competitions this term.
