Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals Edinson Cavani injury

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms that Edinson Cavani was subbed off against West Ham United with a muscular injury.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Edinson Cavani had to be withdrawn against West Ham United after suffering a muscular injury.

The Uruguay international lined up from the first whistle at the London Stadium, but Cavani was hauled off at half time alongside Donny van de Beek, with Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford replacing the pair.

While the substitutions turned the game on its head as United ran out 3-1 winners against West Ham, Solskjaer has confirmed that Cavani's substitution was an enforced change.

Speaking to Sky Sports News after the game, Solskjaer said: "Injuries, so it's unfortunate you get muscle injuries. Edi [Cavani] had to come off with an injury - hopefully it's not too bad.

"Anthony [Martial] had to come off here as well. Of course Bruno is part of this team and 45 minutes is enough."

Cavani - who was lauded for his heroics against Southampton last weekend - is now facing a race to be fit for United's final group game in the Champions League against RB Leipzig next week.
