An image of Amad Diallo's knee suggests that he underwent surgery on the injury that he picked up during Manchester United's preparations for the 2023-24 campaign.
The Ivory Coast international excelled during a loan spell at Sunderland last season, scoring 14 goals and registering four assists in 42 appearances in all competitions.
Amad returned to Old Trafford over the summer and was involved in the early stages of Man United's pre-season, but he picked up a knee injury against Arsenal in the United States.
Man United later released a statement confirming that the Ivorian would be missing in the early part of the campaign, but there was no mention of the 21-year-old undergoing an operation.
A Sunderland ITK said a few days ago that Amad Diallo was going to be out until at least December.

Amad has now posted an image of his knee on social media, and there appears to be a large scar, suggesting that he underwent an operation to repair the damage.
Man United are still yet to reveal whether surgery took place, but the forward is believed to be on course for a return before the end of the year.
Amad has scored once and registered one assist in nine appearances for the 20-time English champions in all competitions since his arrival from Atalanta BC in January 2021.
Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag was expected to have a close look at the forward during pre-season before making a decision on his involvement for the 2023-24 campaign.

There would likely have been loan interest in Amad in the latter stages of the window if he had not suffered an injury which left him in the treatment room.
Kobbie Mainoo, 18, also picked up an ankle injury during pre-season, with the midfielder on the sidelines in the early weeks of the campaign.
Meanwhile, Mason Mount, Tyrell Malacia, Tom Heaton, Luke Shaw and Raphael Varane are in the treatment room for Ten Hag's side at this stage of the season.
Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof were both substituted against Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday, meanwhile, but the pair are expected to be available for the team's next clash against Brighton & Hove Albion on September 16.
