Half-Time Report: Manchester United being held by Tottenham Hotspur

Hugo Lloris makes a string of saves to keep Tottenham Hotspur level with Manchester United at half time at White Hart Lane.

Manchester United have headed into the break level with Tottenham Hotspur after Hugo Lloris made a string of saves in a goalless first half at White Hart Lane.

Both sides had half-chances in the opening 10 minutes as Wayne Rooney nearly suplied Juan Mata, while David de Gea had to stop a weak shot from Ryan Mason.

The first real opportunity fell to the visitors when Mata played the ball forward for Radamel Falcao, but a poor finish left Lloris with a comfortable save.

The hosts immediately pressed down the other end, with Harry Kane creating a chance for Andros Townsend, but his chipped effort was held by De Gea.

Spurs continued to live dangerously down the other end, as a Mata free kick struck the post and rebounded towards Robin van Persie, but Vlad Chiriches was on hand to make a last-ditch clearance.

Lloris continued to come under pressure in the Tottenham goal, but the keeper saved strikes from Van Persie, a header from Rooney and a curled attempt from Ashley Young to keep the sides level at the interval.
