Defender Scott Wootton is given the number 31 shirt in Manchester United's Champions League squad.

Manchester United have given a Champions League squad number to young defender Scott Wootton ahead of tomorrow's clash against CFR Cluj.

The 21-year-old has been included in the squad following injuries to fellow defenders Nemanja Vidic, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling.

He made his senior debut during last week's 2-1 victory over Newcastle United in the Capital One Cup and was on the bench for Saturday's 3-2 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.

It now appears that manager Sir Alex Ferguson is considering using the former Liverpool trainee during the trip to Romania.

He has been handed the number 31 shirt.
