Sporting Lisbon are reportedly set to trigger their €8.5m (£7.1m) option to buy for Manchester City right-back Pedro Porro before the end of the season.

Manchester City defender Pedro Porro is reportedly on the brink of joining Sporting Lisbon on a permanent transfer.

The 22-year-old has spent the past two seasons on loan with the Portuguese champions and has impressed with four goals and seven assists in 28 matches in the 2021-22 season.

Porro also formed an integral part of Sporting's title-winning 2020-21 team, although he is due to return to the Etihad when the current campaign concludes.

However, Sporting possess an option to sign the Spaniard permanently for €8.5m (£7.1m), and according to Record - via the Manchester Evening News - the Portuguese giants are set to trigger the clause.

The report adds that Sporting will not have to wait until the end of the season to do so, and as a result they are highly optimistic about their chances of wrapping up a deal in the coming weeks.

Porro therefore prepares to leave Man City having not made a single appearance for the club since his £10m arrival from Girona in 2019, with the defender also being loaned out to Real Valladolid not long after joining Pep Guardiola's side.
