Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has reportedly decided to give the green light to the club to offer Edin Dzeko a new contract.
Dzeko will enter the final year of his contract this summer, and reports in recent weeks have suggested that the striker could be on his way out of the club at the end of the season.
However, Pellegrini is believed to be eager to keep the Bosnian after using him more on a more regular basis due to Sergio Aguero's injury problems.
According to the Manchester Evening News, City are keen to begin talks soon as they look to scare off clubs interested in Dzeko's services.
The 28-year-old joined City from Wolfsburg in January 2011.
