Manchester City have set their sights on signing Oscar Cardozo and Fred after pulling out of the race to recruit striker Edinson Cavani, according to a report.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini has decided to end his side's pursuit of the Uruguayan international as he does not want the club to be held to ransom by Napoli for the forward's signature.
The 59-year-old will now turn his attention to a double capture of Cardozo and Fred, who he feels that will come at a cheaper cost than Cavani, reports the Daily Mail.
City are looking to bolster their forward options following the sale of Carlos Tevez to Juventus last week.
